Welcome to Areto Bijoux Art
My name is Eliane, I am a Metalartist, I was born in Brazil, daughter of Italian parents, I moved to Hong Kong at the age of 19 to finish university and I lived there all of my adult life. My personality, my work my life were shaped by the creative conservative Italian culture, the creative colourful Brasilan culture and by the industrious and innovative Hong Kong culture.
My interest in metal art began in 2005, when I spent a year in Rome, I visited a jewelry exhibition at the The Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, that exhibition showcased pieces of jewelry which were discovered in ancient burial grounds in Rome and its suburbs. I was amazed by those little pieces of jewelry, I attended lectures on ancient jewelry and spent weeks at the basement of that museum (it was under renovation) learning and admiring little pieces of ancient jewelry, from Roman, Greek to Egyptians, some of the pieces were over 7000 years old.
I marveled and envied the ancient artisans; they were immortalized by those little pieces of jewelry. I didn't care for who wore those jewelry! I wanted to know how they were made. What kind of tools were used, the techniques used, what inspired the artists. How a mundane little piece of metal could be transformed into a majestic piece of self decorative art, but what I found most amazing was that any of those pieces could be worn by anyone and would be considered contemporary even today.
So I quit my job to dedicate my self to the pursuit of my dream, to learn metalsmithing.
I strive to make pieces of art, not just jewelry, pieces that cannot be attained by mass production, I don't want my work to be measured at a minuscule diameter and be made to look something that could be replicate on a production line. As a self thaught artist my work is in constant evolution I do not restrict my self, I love to learn new techniques and most of the time the learning process is more interesting to me than the finished piece.
Thank you for your visit.
